21:03Now PlayingHungary's government has composed a change to the country's constitution that would ban same-sex couples' adoption. The proposed amendment would permit only married couples to adopt children and stipulate that "the mother is a woman; the father is a man." Same-sex marriage is currently illegal in Hungary, but adoption has been possible if one partner applies independently. It would also require children to be raised with a "Christian" interpretation of gender roles. The proposal reads, "[It] ensures education in accordance with the values based on Hungary's constitutional identity and Christian culture." The constitution has already defined "the institution of marriage as between a man and a woman" and "the basis of the family and national survival".
