18:57Now PlayingPayPal has delivered a major setback to Iran's influence network in Europe by shutting down the account of Berlin-based al-Mustafa Institute, an affiliate of Iran's al-Mustafa International University (MIU), known for spreading the regime’s extremist Shia ideology. The U.S. Treasury sanctioned MIU in 2020 for serving as “a recruiting ground for the IRGC-QF [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force],” and Western governments, including Germany, have accused it of acting as a hub for terrorist recruitment and ideological propagation. Established in 2016, the al-Mustafa Institute is one of MIU’s 50 international branches and has been linked to exporting Iran’s revolutionary ideology under the direct oversight of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei through the Ahlul Bayt World Assembly. Critics have long alleged that MIU and its affiliates use educational platforms to fund and support the Iranian regime’s proxies, such as Hezbollah while spreading its ideological agenda globally. This development reflects a growing international crackdown on Iran's network of influence, as the incoming Trump administration signals a return to “maximum pressure” policies targeting Tehran’s global operations.
