Independent MP Iqbal Mohamed acknowledged the risks but opposed a legal ban, advocating instead for health education and genetic screening. “A much more positive approach would be to facilitate advanced genetic test screening...and run health education programs targeting those communities,” Mohamed countered, highlighting cultural sensitivity.
