President-elect Donald Trump announced that his inauguration ceremony will be moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda due to dangerously cold weather conditions forecasted for January 20. With temperatures expected to reach a high of just 24 degrees, accompanied by 15-mile-per-hour winds and an Arctic blast, the decision was made to prioritize safety for attendees, including law enforcement, first responders, and supporters.

Trump addressed the change on Truth Social, emphasizing his responsibility to ensure public safety during what he described as historic weather conditions. Citing the precedent set by President Ronald Reagan in 1985, whose second inauguration was also moved indoors due to severe cold, Trump reassured supporters that the ceremony would remain a memorable and beautiful experience, particularly for the large television audience.

The swearing-in ceremony, prayers, and speeches will now take place in the Capitol Rotunda. To accommodate those unable to attend in person, the event will also be broadcast live at Capital One Arena, which will host a viewing event. Following the swearing-in, Trump plans to join supporters at the arena for a Presidential Parade. The Victory Rally scheduled for Sunday at 3 P.M. and the three inaugural balls on Monday evening will proceed as planned.

Trump encouraged attendees to dress warmly if they plan to venture outside, adding, "Everyone will be safe, everyone will be happy, and we will, together, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
