12:06Now PlayingPresident Biden has detailed a three-phase, Israel-proposed deal that would free the remaining hostages and end the war in Gaza.
During an address to the American people on Friday, Biden explained that Hamas is "no longer capable" of carrying out another large-scale attack, so Israel achieved its goal of dismantling the terror group.
The first phase of the Israeli deal would last for six weeks. Biden said it would include a "full and complete ceasefire," a withdrawal of Israeli forces from densely populated areas of Gaza, and the release of some hostages, including all Americans, as well as women, the elderly and wounded.
Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners would also be freed and 600 trucks of humanitarian aid would be allowed into Gaza daily.
Biden said the four-page Israeli proposal was delivered to Hamas on Thursday and still needs to be approved by the terror group.
Following Biden's speech, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by saying "Israel's conditions for ending the war have not changed."
