9:13Now PlayingA US Defense Department contractor is accused of printing more than 150 pages of “top secret” government documents, then trying to flee with them to Mexico.
Federal prosecutors identified the 50-year-old man as Gokhan Gun, an electrical engineer with the US Air Force who lives in Virginia and holds dual citizenship in Turkey.
Court documents allege Gun was leaving for the airport to board a flight to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, when FBI agents executed a search warrant on two of his homes. The agents said they found documents marked as “top secret” inside a backpack in front of his home, as well as stacks of classified documents in his dining room.
Gun allegedly claimed he was traveling to Mexico on a fishing trip, but prosecutors described that as “nonsensical,” adding that he had printed 3,400 pages of classified and non-classified documents since 2020, transporting them home in rolled-up wads in plastic shopping bags.
