2:46Now PlayingMilitary air traffic controllers at the Pentagon lost contact with an Army helicopter for about 20 seconds on May 1, the Associated Press reported Friday. The communication was briefly lost as the helicopter neared the Pentagon, and as a result two commercial jets had to abort their landings at a Washington airport. This news comes after a deadly crash in January between an Army black hawk helicopter and a commercial flight landing at Reagan Washington National Airport, where 67 people died. In recent months, there have also been repeated air traffic control communication outages and staffing issues at Newark Liberty International Airport, resulting in flight reductions and calls to overhaul the Federal Aviation Administration.
