15:15Now PlayingThe NTSB gave a news conference Friday afternoon with updates on the investigation into the deadly jet crash into a San Diego, CA neighborhood.
Shortly before it hit the ground, the plane hit power lines, according to NTSB.
The Cessna 550 jet crashed into the Murphy Canyon neighborhood while on its way to Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport.
In the afternoon’s news conference, NTSB investigator Dan Baker said that the pilot did not report any problems to air traffic control and did not declare an emergency before the crash.
The NTSB said it has recovered both automated dependent surveillance-broadcast data, flight track data and air traffic audio. The jet did not have a flight data recorder onboard and investigators are still working to see if there was a cockpit recorder.
The NTSB also said the system that provides weather conditions to pilots was not operating properly at the airport at the time of the crash due to an “unrelated power surge.”
