13:58Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump has announced a delay on proposed tariffs on the European Union until July 9, 2025. This decision followed a request from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Speaking to reporters in Morristown, New Jersey, President Trump says that he had agreed to the extension as a privilege and noted that rapid trade talks would commence.
Following a Sunday call between President Trump and President von der Leyen, the threat of a 50% tariff on EU goods has seemingly been averted, at least temporarily. President Trump has said von der Leyen pledged to quickly meet to seek a resolution. This comes after Trump's Friday social media post, where he threatened tariffs, citing difficulties in trade negotiations with the EU and a lack of progress.
