20:17Now PlayingUkrainian forces destroyed more than 40 Russian warplanes in a drone attack on Russian airbases deep within the country on Sunday. Ukrainian officials said the attack took more than a year to plan. Russia's defense ministry confirmed the attack, saying five airfields were hit. Ukraine said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy oversaw the attack.
The strike comes just one day before officials from both countries are set to meet for a second round of ceasefire talks in Istanbul, Turkey.
The White House told Fox News that President Trump and the administration was not given any warning before the attack.
