8:02Now PlayingAir Canada has reached a tentative agreement with their unionized flight attendants. The country's largest carrier on Tuesday ended the first strike by its cabin crew in 40 years. The strike had upended travel plans for hundreds of thousands of passengers. LiveNOW’s Andrew Craft is speaking with John Gradek, a Faculty Lecturer at Mcgill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
On social media, Prime Minister Mark Carney wrote, “I am relieved that Air Canada and the Canadian Union of Public Employees have reached a tentative agreement early this morning. It is my hope that this will ensure flight attendants are compensated fairly at all times, while ending disruption for hundreds of thousands of Canadian families, workers, and visitors to Canada.”
The Air Canada strike that lasted nearly four days led the airline that serves about 130,000 people daily to withdraw its third-quarter and full-year earnings guidance.
