44-year-old Jeremy Fistel has been indicted for leaving threatening voicemails and written messages targeting Queens Assemblyman and NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. Prosecutors say the threats, which began in June and continued through July, included violent, anti-Muslim language and references to Mamdani’s family. Fistel faces a 22-count indictment, including multiple hate crime charges, and could serve up to 15 years in prison if convicted of the top charge
