On Nov. 19, 2023, Cardi B went on Instagram Live and reacted to Mayor Adams’ announcement that NYC's migrant crisis caused a 5% cut for city agencies. Adams says the city spent $1.45 billion on the migrant crisis in fiscal 2023. As a result, city agencies like the New York Police Department, the Fire Department of NY, NYC public schools, sanitation, and libraries would all see significant budget cuts. The mayor alluded to this not being the last of the cuts, asking the federal government for help.
