7:51Now PlayingOn Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Marc Lamont Hill was scheduled to speak at the Mamie Phipps Clark & Kenneth B. Clark Distinguished Lecture at Columbia University. He was set to give the lecture and receive a $10,000 Racial Justice Award in Mamie Phipps Clark & Kenneth B. Clark's honor.
On Monday, Hill declined the invitation to speak at the lecture and the $10,000 award, in support of the students being accosted and arrested for standing in solidarity with the Palestinians and calling for the university's divestment from companies who are complicit in the Israeli apartheid state and the genocide of Palestinians.
