Mumia was framed and wrongly convicted for the 1981 murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner. Since being sentenced to death in 1982, he has been one world's most important intellectuals.
On April 24, Mumia and his supporters celebrated 70 years of his life.
Mumia does a weekly podcast "The Classroom and the Cell" with Marc Lamont Hill. It was born out of a book they co-authored by the same name.
