From her days in the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army to her 1979 escape from prison and asylum in Cuba, Assata’s life embodied resistance against racism, oppression, and state violence. Branded a “terrorist” by the U.S. government but celebrated globally as a symbol of survival and courage, her story continues to inspire new generations.
Her words still echo today: “It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.”
