As if you needed something else to worry about, there are missing nuclear weapons sitting around out there in the world right now.

The United States military uses the term “broken arrow” to describe every time in history a nuclear weapon was lost, stolen, or accidentally detonated. Since 1950, there have been at least 32 documented broken arrows.

The United States has officially lost six nuclear weapons. You can read about all of them in this great book here that’ll keep you up at night, but sad to say, that’s just the United States.

One expert (Otfried Nassauer) suggested that as many as 50 nuclear weapons had been lost worldwide during the Cold War. Another report claims that the Russian military alone lost track of up to 100 nuclear bombs that are small enough to fit in a suitcase.

If this is true, there are potentially 100 nukes out there right now unaccounted for. If you find one, comment below.
