Brandon Straka and his team from #WalkAway headed to Chicago for the LGBT Town Hall event at a space called Theater Wit. They had signed contracts, paid for the event- AFTER clearly telling the venue who they are and what the event is. The event, like all #WalkAway Town Halls, was to be an open forum discussion about why various minority groups are voting democrat at such high rates. The venue cancelled the event with less than 24 hours notice to find a new venue, calling #WalkAway a hate group and a “bunch of online trolls”.
Because of the tenacity of #WalkAway’s team, they were able to secure a new venue at last minute, and the #WalkAway LGBT Town Hall, Chicago was a huge success.
