YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThis is the first presentation for Walter Reed aka Killah Priest (Wu-Tang Clan) at a secular/atheist conference. We were honored to have him make his debut lecture in Milwaukee!
Presentation: Heavy Mental: Religion's Influence on Hip Hop
In the early 90’s, rapper Killah Priest began making a name for himself in Brooklyn, but took sabbatical to educate himself on history and religion – returning to his rap career in 1995 – appearing on several Wu-Tang Clan projects such as the Gravediggaz, Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return to the 36 Chambers, and, most importantly, Genius/GZA's seminal Liquid Swords.. His studies have had a major impact on his lyrics – clear in albums such as The Psychic World of Walter Reed, Priesthood, Heavy Mental and newest album, Planet of the Gods. Killah Priest will be presenting on how religion has influenced his music and where it has taken the direction of his art.
