Are There Reliable Sources for the Miraculous Resurrection of Jesus?
The resurrection of Jesus is the Christian religious belief that, after being put to death, Jesus rose again from the dead. It is the central tenet of Christian theology and part of the Nicene Creed. His resurrection is covered in the Scriptures; but are these writings reliable?
This debate will have an organized format and include time for audience questions. We intend for this to be a relaxed atmosphere. We encourage attendance for religious believers, non-believers, the agnostics, and also those who eschew labels.
Dr. Richard Carrier is an atheist historical scholar and author with a PhD in ancient history from Columbia University. He is one of the leading current proponents of the Christ myth theory, and will argue that the sources we have for Jesus' resurrection are not reliable enough to be considered an actual historical event.
Dr. Justin W. Bass is the lead pastor of 1042 Church in Frisco, Texas, and a Professor at Dallas Christian College and Dallas Theological Seminary. He holds a PhD in New Testament Studies, and will make the case that Paul’s early letters and the Synoptic Gospels are reliable sources for the miraculous resurrection of Jesus.If you like our videos please support our Patreon
