28:26Now PlayingVoters in the 2012 general election rejected the proposed constitutional amendment requiring voters to present a government-authorized photo identification card prior to having their ballot tallied. However, ensuring accurate and reliable voter identity verification remains a priority for lawmakers, and the 2013 legislature created a task force to delve into the use of electronic poll books on election day.
The new technology will be tested at five precincts, providing legislators a working model for evaluation. On this week's Capitol Report program, former Secretary of State and current State Senator Mary Kiffmeyer, R-Big Lake, joins Julie to discuss the work of the task force and the potential of the polling place tool.
