5:54Now PlayingOn a unanimous 59-0 vote, the Senate granted final passage to a bill providing about $4.7 million dollars in disaster relief for damage resulting from April and June storms.
Of the amount, $4.5 million dollars covers the local and state match for the $13.4 million in federal disaster relief. The state appropriation covers costs for debris removal, emergency services, and various repairs to roads, bridges, parks, utilities and public buildings.
The bill also appropriates $219,141 dollars for disaster costs associated with the April winter storm in southwest Minnesota. Of the amount, $60,000 dollars is for a grant to Nobles County, $60,000 for a grant to Rock County and $99,141 is for a grant to the city of Worthington.
Most of the Senate debate focused on the agreement between Governor Mark Dayton and legislative leaders not to include the repeal of business-to-business taxes enacted during the 2013 session.
