52:14Now PlayingCommerce Commissioner Mike Rothman and other key state officials released the final health insurance rates and plans that will be sold on MNsure, the state-designed health insurance marketplace. The plans and rates, announced Friday, September 6, will be available to Minnesota consumers and small businesses October 1st, when Minnesota's health exchange officially opens. When purchased, the plans would be effective January 1, 2014.
Last session, Governor Mark Dayton and the legislature decided to create MNsure, a state-operated health exchange authorized under the federal health care law. According to Rothman, MNsure will offer many health insurance options at premiums that will be among the lowest in the country. He also explained that Minnesotans will have multiple plans from which to choose, and throughout the state, health insurance shoppers will find plans from two to five providers.
