The Minnesota House of Representatives and the Minnesota Senate passed dissimilar wage increase proposals, and the 2013 session ended before a conference committee finished their work resolving the differences.
On this week's Capitol Report, Producer Jon Brune and host Julie Bartkey explore the issue in detail. Jon explains the controversy surrounding mandated wage limits, and Julie talks with House sponsor Rep. Ryan Winkler, DFL-Golden Valley, and Senator Scott Newman, R-Hutchinson, about their views on whether higher wages are good for Minnesota's economy.
Also on this week's program, personal care attendants rally for a five percent increase in wages. Julie highlights the day's events, and Senator Kent Eken, DFL-Twin Valley, explains his proposal to improve their pay.
