56:56Now PlayingThe recently revised plan authorizing the distribution and use of medical marijuana passed the Senate Friday, May 16, on a 46-14 vote following intense and emotional debate.
Sponsored by Scott Dibble, DFL-Mpls., the bill identifies illnesses eligible for medical marijuana treatment and would require a Minnesota-licensed health care practitioner to certify qualifying patients. Certified patients would be enrolled in a registry system, and the data would be used in a clinical study. Patients would be allowed to use marijuana in oil, pill or vapor form; however, smoking is not allowed.
