25:45Now PlayingSenator Scott Dibble, DFL-Mpls., and Representative Carla Melin, DFL-Hibbing, announced Thursday, May 15, that an agreement has been reached between the Senate, House and Governor Dayton regarding the authorization, use and dispensing of medical marijuana.
The plan identifies illnesses eligible for medical marijuana treatment and would require a Minnesota-licensed health care practitioner to certify qualifying patients. Certified patients would be enrolled in a registry system, and the data would be used in a clinical study. Patients would be allowed to use marijuana in oil, pill or vapor form; however, smoking is not allowed.
Governor Mark Dayton said he will sign the bill.
