In response, Governors from California, Washington and New York joined together to form the U.S. Climate Alliance, committed to advancing clean energy and combating climate change. Five days later, Governor Mark Dayton, along with ten other new members, joined the U.S. Climate Alliance. Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Commissioner John Linc Stine joins Capitol Report moderator Shannon Loehrke to discuss the Governor’s decision and what it means for Minnesota.
As Chair of the Senate Energy and Utilities Committee, Senator David Osmek, R-Mound, joins Shannon to discuss energy-related issues from the 2017 legislative session, including Minnesota’s energy portfolio, changes to the biomass power production industry, and a measure that will streamline and standardize rules for small cell technology expansion in Minnesota.
Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka recently declared that managing medical care costs is one of the most complex issues facing the state, and a subcommittee will begin working soon to find savings and innovations in health care costs and delivery. We provide excerpts from earlier conversations with two subcommittee co-chairs, Senator Scott Jensen, R-Chaska, and Senator Matt Klein, DFL-Mendota Heights, about their dual roles as physicians and lawmakers.
