1:18:30Now PlayingThe Senate Transportation Finance and Policy Committee approved its supplemental funding bill Wednesday, April 18, on a divided vote, and avoids Governor Dayton's plan to increase vehicle registration fees to support the licensing and registration system.
Among the bill's many provisions, the measure appropriates about $15 million dollars for MNLARS technical staff and $9 million dollars for grants to deputy registrars. The bill also provides funds to study the expansion of Highway 94 from St. Michael to St. Cloud and to establish an Interstate Highway 35 and County Road 9 interchange. Furthermore, the bill contains a provision requiring Corridors of Commerce funding, which upgrades heavily travelled highways, to be evenly split between the metropolitan area and rural areas.
The bill was referred to the Senate Finance Committee.
