18:30Now PlayingAt a State Capitol press conference Monday, February 11, House Speaker Melissa Hortman and Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, with Governor Tim Walz, announced their agreed-upon major finance bill deadlines to allow for greater transparency and public involvement.
Under the accelerated deadlines, finance bills are to be passed by the respective bodies May 1. By May 6, the chairs of the conference committees will receive the budget targets to finalize agreements. Conference committee reports are to be sent to the full bodies for final votes by May 13.
