16:06Now PlayingA bill to create a grant program for supporting classes in firearms safety, archery, hunting and angling came before the Senate Education Committee Wednesday, March 27. Sponsored by Senator Justin Eichorn, R-Grand Rapids, the classes would be incorporated into physical education curriculum.
The purpose of the bill, explained Eichorn, is to boost interest among students of outdoor activities. "We think this is an important step to help get our Minnesota kids away from the t.v. and get them in the woods and on the water and to get them hooked on the outdoors and hooked on fishing..."
The bill was laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus E-12 education finance bill.
