The issue of insulin affordability came to lawmakers attention following the death of Alec Smith, a 26 year old man who died in 2017 while rationing his insulin until his next paycheck. Senator Eric Pratt has proposed the creation of an Insulin Patient Assistance Program, and he joined Capitol Report moderator Shannon Loehrke to provide greater detail about the plan.
