13:49Now PlayingWith the Derek Chauvin trail in Minneapolis underway, the Minnesota Senate advanced a bill Monday, March 8, that would place $20 million dollars into a new emergency law enforcement account. Sponsored by Senator Bill Weber, R-Luverne, the money would aid state and local agencies in addressing emergencies resulting from civil unrest.
The funds would help reimburse costs related to suppressing fires, providing medical services, supporting law enforcement efforts and replacing damaged or destroyed equipment. Local governments experiencing the emergency could receive up to 75 percent of the total costs, while local jurisdictions assisting could receive total reimbursement compensation.
