19:59Now PlayingGovernor Tim Walz is scheduled to present his fourth State of the State Address at 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 24. It will be his second speech presented in the House of Representatives Chamber before a joint convention of the legislature.
According to the state constitution, the 92nd legislative session must adjourn May 23rd, leaving just over four weeks for the Republican-led Senate and the DFL-led House to reach agreements on supplemental spending priorities and a bonding bill. Despite a $9.25 billion budget surplus, there is no requirement for the legislature to pass supplemental funding, tax measures or a bonding bill this session.
In this special edition of Session Update, moderator Shannon Loehrke highlights completed Senate floor action on major legislation and obtains the perspectives from Senate leaders on the governor's forthcoming address.
