40:23Now PlayingThe Governor's Council on Economic Expansion presented its report, "Minnesota's Moment: A Roadmap for Equitable Economic Expansion," during a press conference Wednesday, July 27, at Wyoming Machine in Stacy, Minnesota. The 15-member panel appointed by Governor Tim Walz was established in September of 2021 to develop a plan for ensuring the state's long-term economic growth.
The plan outlines several recommendations in various policy areas, including enhancing child care support, expanding the state's infrastructure, including broadband, improving educational and training opportunities and reducing barriers to job creation. According to Dept. of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove, developing and expanding the state's workforce is an area that needs immediate attention, as industry leaders seek skilled employees.
Governor Walz said that he hopes the report serves as a roadmap for future administrations and legislators as they set policies impacting the state's economic growth potential.
