4:12Now PlayingOn a voice vote, a bill that would create a public option for MinnesotaCare passed the Senate Health and Human Services Committee Thursday, March 30. SF 49 would also allow undocumented Minnesotans access to the program, create an option for small employers, and establish a Health Care Affordability Board and a Health Care Affordability Advisory Council. In addition, the measure would fund a study into the viability of a universal health care financing system.
“These are things we can take action on this year and have an immediate impact for a segment of our Minnesota population and benefit right away,” said committee chair and bill sponsor Senator Melissa Wiklund, DFL-Bloomington. The bill was referred to the Senate Finance Committee.
