Question: Suppose my son wants to take a housing loan and processing of loan is taking long, can I take a loan for him or give him money as gift? What are the tax implications for me? After loan is sanctioned, can he avail benefits for the same or is it better that he takes a loan from bank before purchasing a house? What is better?
Answer: It'?s not clear why your son is not able to get the loan. If it has something to do with his credit repayment track record you can consider adding yourself as a joint borrower to increase his chances of getting the loan. This assumes that you have a good income and track record and are also not old enough that this con be considered only for a short period of time.
