Question: I was cheated by agents who claimed that they were working for MHADA. They promised me that they would allot me a flat in Mulund East PMG New MHADA Colony and took Rs 5 lakh in cash and Rs 57000 DD in MHADAs favour. Similarly, like me, there are two other people who have also been cheated. They were promised that they will be allotted flats in MG Road, Goregaon. But there is no word from the agents from last 2 months and they have switched off the phones. We have agreements stating their addresses on it. We visited their house but we managed to meet their families. We tried filing police complaint. But the cops asked to bring the agent over there. What should I do?
Answer: There is no agent for MHADA. It is a government organisation. It is a cognizable offence. File a complaint for cheating u/s 420 419 and 170 of IPC. File a complaint to MHADA. MHADA are liable for all their agents.
