Q: I had taken a home loan worth Rs 3.25 lakh in 2006 from SBI at 8% interest rate. I want to take a top-up loan. What would be my eligibility?
A: Most of the loans that SBI is offering today are based on the size of the loan. For loans lower than Rs 30-lakh category, the interest rates are in the range of 8.5% to 8.7%. Of course you are eligible for 8.5% but this is a top-up loan, which typically is 10-20 bps higher. Hence, you can expect to get a top-up loan in the range of 8.6%-8.8%.
