Dealers had earlier planned to refuse such transactions from Monday (Jan 9) morning in protest against the banks' decision to levy the MDR or Merchant Discount Rate on such transactions. The MDR ranges between 0.25-1percent of the transaction value which is paid by the dealer. However, the government stepped in and dealers have now put off this protest till 13th January.
