Question: I am a resident of Khar, 5th Road since past 10 years. The inside road is in poor condition since the very beginning. Whom should I approach to get this work done?
Answer: The right person to approach is the local corporator in your area. I would ask you to approach Road’s department in your local BMC ward office. There is a maintenance department in each ward who takes care of such issues. Once you approach the local corporator he will take you to the right authority. If you have already made a written complaint, always use the RTI Act to get the status of the complaint. If the authorities haven’t acted on this matter at all, you can use the Right to Services Act which is applicable to local self-government bodies. By using this, you make the authorities accountable. Using RTI, you can perhaps initiate and speed up the process of the betterment of the inside road.
