RTI activist Chetan Kothari asked NACO, the nodal body for AIDS control in India if LGBTQ community is allowed to donate blood. NACO categorises the LGBTQ community as high risk for HIV-AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. MIRROR NOW also confronted NACO and while they distanced themselves from the controversy, they nevertheless reiterated that the LGBTQ community are categorised as 'High-risk' donors.
