21:50Now PlayingOn the Urban Debate tonight, we discuss the biggest privacy breach of recent times.
Modi government has been blamed for ignoring two separate warnings issued by Facebook-owned WhatsApp. As per PTI, WhatsApp had informed the Indian government of spyware in May 2019 and September 2019 that 121 Indian users were targeted by Israeli spyware Pegasus.
The defence stated by Centre are as follows:
1. WhatsApp only shared "Technical Jargon"
2. WhatsApp refused to divulge the identities of those targeted
3. The letter was still too vague to be alarming
Did the centre sleep on the warnings from facebook?
