The most recent was recorded in a Bengaluru temple where crowds of people thronged, disregarding social distancing norms. The Karnataka High Court has now taken cognizance of the situation especially amid rising cases of COVID-19 in the state, asking the Centre to review the terms of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on the functioning of religious places. Places of worship had been reopened as a part of the second phase of the nationwide unlock with very specific precautionary guidelines including social distancing and regular sanitisation.
