The valley was named after Ghulam Rasool Galwan, a local of the region. Generations later, the family still resides in Leh, Ladakh. Amin Galwan tells Mirror Now that the Chinese troops in the 1960s had made a similar attempt to encroach the territory, however, even then, their plan was foiled by the Indian armed forces. The Galwan Clash, earlier this week, over the border dispute has become a central point of contention in the bilateral relations of both countries as 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in the violent clash.
