The Karnataka High Court has stayed the government ban on online classes, stating that it was unconstitutional and violated the Fundamental Right to Life and Education conferred by Article 21 and 21A of the Constitution. The Court clarified that the order should not be misconstrued to allow schools to make online education compulsory nor will schools have the right to charge extra fees for conducting online classes. Chief Justice Abhay Oka also noted that the state government would have to make infrastructural arrangements so that students from all sections of the society can attend online classes.
