Dr SY Quraishi says, ‘Conducting elections is a constitutional responsibility & in India, can be postponed only if an emergency is declared. Polling day is just a 1-day affair, people crowd markets every day’.
Whereas, Dr Nawal Kishores says, ‘In a democracy, the most important stakeholder is people, and now the people are at risk. The elections in Bihar can wait, but the pandemic won’t’.
'Infant mortality rate in Bihar is 48, the 34th worst in the world. At this kind of infrastructure, we can't fight the battle; need to have death audits', says Dr Nafis Faizi.
