5:22Now PlayingThe state ordered the closing of Malls in Tamilnadu on 17th March due to the COVID19 pandemic.
Malls remained shut for the whole period even when other sectors were provided minimal relaxations.
However, starting 1st September Malls have been allowed to operate with strict standard operating procedures.
Phoenix Mall for example in Chennai has opened up for business and Social distancing has been enforced right from the moment a customer enters the venue.
A face mask is mandatory and sanitizers are placed at every entry point.
Baggage will go through a UV scanner before being scanned.
An Artificial Intelligence engine is also used to keep count of the number of customers present within the Mall.
An IR cam verifies the temperature of anyone who's entering and will alert if anyone is having a fever.
Social distancing is also maintained in the escalators where markings are placed for customers to skip every two steps.
Malls have been instructed to sanitize the area every hour.
Even though Malls are allowed to be open, theaters within the Malls are to remain close until further instructions from the government.
