These nationwide closures are impacting hundreds of millions of students. Several other countries have implemented localized closures impacting millions of additional learners.
AAP leader Dr Ajoy Kumar says that 'for Delhi, we need to make sure we don’t put any child’s life at risk. The government of India’s guidelines are fancy. Adults are not doing it and you expect the children too!'
“It’s easy to put in SOPs. If social distancing is maintained and half the number of children sit in class, where does the other half go? It is necessary to go into minute details and see if the school has the capacity to accommodate these children,” says NCP Clyde Crasto.
