50:50Now PlayingOn The Urban Debate with Tanvi Shukla, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurance to the farmers comes on the backdrop of an ongoing ruckus over the farm bills, which were passed in the Rajya Sabha on Sunday. The Opposition benches have been protesting against the bills calling them 'anti-farmer'.
Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram also asked how the government was planning to guarantee a minimum support price to farmers. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter and blamed the government for the state of the economy as well as for passing the 'black agriculture laws'.
Congress Dr Shama Mohamed says, 'By brute force, the bill was passed in Lok Sabha. In Rajya Sabha, no answers were given to oppositions’ questions, nor was there division of vote. If Govt is confident that they're right, why not send it to a select committee?'
