Home Minister Amit Shah visited Chennai on 21st November to inaugurate various public welfare schemes to the tune of several thousand crores which also includes the Chennai Metro Phase two, which alone has an estimated value of Rs61,843 crore
But the actual visit seems to tie up loose ends amidst BJP's allies in Tamilnadu.
AIADMK which never worried about BJP and which even contested the 2016 election alone became a close ally of BJP after the death of Jayalalitha and faced the 2019 Parliament election and faired extremely poor.
Even then, AIADMK has assured that BJP will be its ally.
However, the recent turn of events where BJP criticized AIADMK for not permitting Ganesh Chathurthi celebration nor BJP's current Vel Yatra citing the pandemic, led to the relationship to turn a bit sour.
On Wednesday, AIADMK's mouthpiece Namadhu Amma, took a jibe at BJP's Vel Yatra, stating the AIADMK will not support any rally or Yatra that is planned to divide people based on religion for vote politics.
AIADMK leaders claim that they are aware of the cadres' sentiment against BJP and how it is trying to undermine AIADMK leaders but nothing can be done as AIADMK needs the support of the Centre to face many big problems, chief among them being Sasikala.
Amongst this chaos, Amit Shah's visit turned extremely crucial making BJP much bolder in seeking a claim for more seats.
AIADMK has to also face DMK, its arch-nemesis. Though Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy had maintained a routine schedule to increase his popularity among the people, sources say that he still is stressed over BJP's attempted stronghold.
In fact, a video of Amit Shah meeting Deputy CM O Panneerselvam in 2019 has gone viral as it shows Amit Shah, apparently instructing OPS that from then on all campaigns will be called NDA campaigns and not AIADMK campaigns. Shah also told OPS that senior leaders should attend all events.
Even after the government function CM Edapadi K Palanisamy and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam followed Amit Shah back to the hotel for a closed-door meet.
Sources claim that Shah has instructed the duo to follow instructions.
